Florida PEP families must complete one approved nationally norm-referenced test each school year and upload the results to EMA. Star Renaissance is on the Florida DOE approved test list and satisfies this requirement in a single session. No minimum score. No pass or fail. Just complete the test and upload the report.

Who Needs PEP Annual Testing?
Every student on a Personalized Education Program scholarship completes an annual norm-referenced assessment, in every grade from kindergarten through twelfth. Step Up For Students requires the results each year as part of renewal.
PEP is not the same thing as Florida home education. A PEP student is not registered with the district under FS 1002.41, so there is no portfolio to file and no evaluation letter sent to a superintendent. You take an approved test, upload the report to Step Up, and that satisfies the requirement. If you are also registered as a home education program, you have a separate annual evaluation to complete, and you can read about that requirement here.
Parent-administered testing is allowed for PEP. You do not need a certified teacher present, you do not need an appointment, and there is no minimum score your child has to reach. The requirement is that the test is taken and the results are submitted.

What PEP Testing Costs
Renaissance Star is $75 and includes both reading and math. If you would rather have a deeper diagnostic picture, the DORA reading and ADAM math bundle is $100 and gives you five reading sub-scores plus detailed math skill mapping. Both are parent-administered and both satisfy the PEP annual testing requirement.
Step Up funds cover testing through the EMA Marketplace. Reserve the amount that matches your service, and your test access is issued once the reservation is confirmed. If you would like to track progress across the year rather than test once, the Star Growth Plan is $165 for three assessments in fall, winter and spring. One of the three meets your PEP requirement; the other two are for your own planning and nothing is filed.
